Practical Experience
Adjustment of Energy Claims - Rob spent 11 years working as a loss adjuster in the Middle and Far East, dealing with the adjustment of energy claims, primarily in the oil and gas sector, both onshore and offshore, as well as power generation, construction and water desalination industries.
Major Items of Plant & Equipment - Rob has dealt with a diverse range of losses arising during the course of construction projects including sub sea pipelines and risers, impact damage to offshore facilities, punch through damage to Jack Up's and damage to a crane on a heavy lift barge. He has also dealt with losses involving damage to turbines and major items of plant and equipment, both onshore and offshore, corrosion damage to pipelines, losses in connection with the failure of flexible pipelines and risers, damage to single buoy mooring systems, Floating Storage and Off take vessels, failures of Sulphur pit linings, damage to Sulphur recovery units and damage to Sulphur handling facilities.
Claim Management Process - Responsibilities involved all aspects of the claim management process, including gathering and reviewing technical and financial information surrounding a loss, liaising with site personnel, engineers and other specialists, Insured's financial staff, Brokers, briefing external experts appointed by Underwriters', as well as preparing and presenting both written and verbal reports to lawyers and Underwriters, with the end result being the successful adjustment and negotiation of the claims.
Dealing with a Wide Range of Nationalities - Rob was also responsible for claims handled in Abu Dhabi and Dubai before relocating to Singapore as Managing Director of the South East Asia region including Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Vietnam, as a result of which he has gained invaluable skills in dealing with a wide range of nationalities, at all levels
Effective Communication - Rob's career spans the globe from Europe to the southern hemisphere. This coupled with extensive management experience at senior director level allows him to effectively communicate and manage large and complex loss and claims management situations
Risk & Loss Advisory - Rob has provided risk and loss advisory services for major loss planning, particularly in the energy and construction sectors.
Credentials
FPSO Facility - Acting for a European FPSO owner to prepare and present claims in Mediation to recover costs incurred for damage to the facility while contracted to a major oil company.
International Exploration Company - Dedicated claims consultant to an international exploration and production company, responsible for the preparation, presentation and negotiation of all their claims. The role includes liaising with the various entities within the parent company, loss adjusters, insurers' experts and lawyers.
Fire at Plant - Acting as consultant to another European oil major, following a fire at a plant in Europe, to advise on the adjustment of the claim and areas of exposure to recovery claims from the new owners of the plant, arising as perceived shortfalls in cover at the time of the incident.
Oil Storage Facility - Working as part of a team in preparing and presenting claims in connection with a major fire at an oil storage facility. This work includes reviewing the adjustment of the claims by the international loss adjusters appointed by the insurance tower, advising the client and liaising with the client's lawyers and experts.
Flood Claims, Water Utility Company - Working as part of a team following flood damage to over 200 separate asset sites to prepare and present the claim to insurers and provide insurance coverage advice to the client project team.
